Jon Baiocchi

Jon Baiocchi

Master fly angler Jon Baiocchi has been fly fishing and tying flies since 1972, and is a California licensed fly fishing guide, published author, educator, innovative tier, and an award winning public speaker giving fly fishing presentations to clubs and expos across the state of California, and the west coast.

Born in San Jose, Ca in 1965, his Dad moved the entire family to Paradise, Ca in 1967 to be closer to prime fly fishing venues, and to raise his family in the spectacular conifer forests of Northern California.

After finishing high school, Jon opted out of college to pursue a career as a professional snowboarder, competing at a national level, starring in feature movies, and working with manufacturers in their research and development programs. After his career ended in 1993, Jon focused entirely on fly fishing, and honing the intricate details of his home waters.

Jon now owns and operates Baiocchi’s Troutfitters guide service in Northern California where he has been guiding for the last 21 years. He has a reputation as a very hard working guide that’s been trained by some of fly fishing’s best known anglers, both past and present. His enthusiasm for the sport is contagious, and combined with his simple approach to teaching gives students the skills needed to be successful on all types of water. Moved by all things flora and fauna his passion for such is never ending. Sharing the knowledge with others is of the greatest importance to him now, and too see others progress with their skills, and reach the next level in fly fishing fulfills his life. It’s the legacy his father left him, and a cherished tradition that Jon will continue in his honor.

Hogan Brown

Hogan Brown

Hogan began fly fishing from an early age virtually growing up on the banks of the North Fork and Lower Yuba rivers. He began hitch hiking the 5 miles from his house to the Lower Yuba River with a fly rod in hand in Junior High school. He has chased trout and steelhead in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and Alberta provinces in Canada. Far from being a trout snob, Hogan has spent considerable time fishing for largemouth, smallmouth, and striped bass and carp on a fly! Hogan has become one of the leading innovators in warm water fly fishing in Northern California. Just as passionate about fly tying, Hogan has developed a unique approach to tying bass, carp, steelhead, and trout flies with the sierra foothills and the CA central valley as his testing ground. Hogan blends many different styles with his own unique approach to create innovative flies for catching bass, carp, steelhead, and trout. Hogan is a contract tier for Montana Fly Co, and many of Hogan’s flies have become staples throughout the West. Hogan began guiding the North Fork and Lower Yuba Rivers when he graduated from high school and eventually relocated to Chico to attend Chico State. Hogan is a 2005 graduate of Chico State with a degree in Social Science and a minor in Psychology. After that he graduated from National University in 2006 with a single subject teaching credential and a Masters in Education. Hogan is also the Marketing Director of the non-profit Cast Hope, which is geared at growing the sport of fly fishing by taking out youth on free guided trips, providing free clinics, and free equipment to remove the barriers that keep kids from getting outdoors and fly fishing. With two young boys and a full guide schedule on the Lower Yuba River, Lower Sacramento River, and Feather River along with various bass and carp water and small streams and rivers outside of Chico Hogan stays plenty busy. Hogan is also a published author with articles appearing in both Northwest Fly Fishing and Southwest Fly Fishing Magazine along with Saltwater Fly Fishing Magazine and California Fly Fisher. He is also an FFF certified casting instructor and has appeared on the nationally televised programs Fly Fishing the World with Conway Bowman and The Fly Fishermen. Scott Fly Rods Pro, Echo Rods Pro, Air Flo Fly Lines Pro, Hatch Outdoors Pro, Simms Ambassador, Montana Fly Co. Jordan Romney

Jordan Romney

Jordan Romney grew up fishing the rivers and lakes of Northern California. While attending college at California State University Chico he spent as much time waist deep in rivers as he did in the class room. After college he moved to North Lake Tahoe to challenge himself on the beautiful streams and lakes the Sierra’s had to offer. In 2009 he decided to turn his passion into a career. He graduated from the Clearwater Guide School in 2010. Since graduating he has been guiding several different waters in Northern California, and is one of the top casting instructors for Matt Heron's Fly Fishing School.  A little while down the road Jordan has become the head guide for Fly Fishing Specialties in Sacramento and Off the Hook Fly Fishing.  He has also spent 2 seasons in Alaska as the head guide for Epic Angling and Adventure. He is a patient and knowledgeable instructor and guide. Jordan grew up just minutes from the Putah Creek in the small town of Winters. Putah Creek is one of the more challenging technical fisheries in the state however Jordan has an uncanny knack for teaching and instructing. His future plan is to continue to travel to far off destinations in pursuit of elusive fish on the fly.
