December 17, 2019

While the Little Truckee is open year-round, accessing this river in the winter can be difficult. Stampede Meadow Road is not plowed and vehicles get stranded regularly. With a capable 4wd you can access the Little Truckee and with enough effort you can hike down to the water, but use caution. You do not want to get stranded back there when the temps dip below 0 in the evening.

Wading

Wading the Little Truckee River in this section is easy as the river bottom is composed of firm rock. Avoid faster flowing sections and be aware of steep cut banks on both sides of the river, but with using caution, almost all anglers can access the majority of the river.
