River Overview
One of the very first pieces of water to be named a wild and scenic river.
Details
- Target Species: Rainbow Trout
- River Type: Headwater
- Closest Town: Blairsden, CA & Graeagle, CA
- Closest Fly Shops: Ace Mountain Hardware, Blairsden, CA
- River Regulations & Closures: Open the last Saturday in April until November 15th. Artificial, barbless hooks only.
- Hazards: This is a remote fishery with very limited cell or wifi signals. Bears, mountain lions, rattlesnakes and more inhabit the Plumas area, and most of the river runs through canyons punctuated by boulders and deep pools.
The Middle Feather is closed to angling until the trout season opens again in late April. See you in the Spring!
Wading
Wading the Middle Feather river is simple in some places, and dangerous in others. Moving through remote portions of Plumas County, the Middle Feather is calm in some sections and then tumbles through boulders and rocky canyons in others. This is true adventure fishing where a wading staff and supportive boots make all the difference.

Strategy
Guide Tips: Look for sunny spots on the river mid-day, trout will be holding in the warmer sections of the river and feeding until dark.
